Campaign Resources

This page has links to information that will be useful to you, whether you're just thinking about running for office as a Libertarian, or whether you've already filed.  If you would like to run for office, please read through this page and contact Robert Butler at 512-758-9134 or 1-800-422-1776.

Basic district information

The "Who represents me?" page lets you type in your residence address, and it tells you which districts you live in. (Note, it's not always right. Also, sometimes it will show multiple districts for one address. To get definitive district information, you should talk to your county voter registrar or look at your voter registration card.)

This redistricting viewer (interactive map) will help you figure out what districts you live in, and how they are shaped.

Our candidates page has a list of statewide and district offices, along with the names of people who have filed already.

For a complete list of offices, as well as qualifications, and a lot of other information, refer to the Texas Secretary of State:

Secretary of State candidate's guide

For information about the duties of the different county offices, look here:

County office descriptions

We have a candidate preferences form that lists offices (including county offices) and qualifications. You can mail it in to us to indicate your preferences.  It is not legally binding, and does not make you a candidate.

If you want to see lists of people who have filed as Republican and Democratic candidates, you can look at the party websites:

Republican Party candidates   (will soon be updated for 2010)
Democratic Party candidates

How to File

Libertarian candidates file using this application for nomination.

To help you fill it out, look at these samples:
Sample application for offices contained within a single county
Sample application for offices crossing county lines
Sample application for statewide offices

Some applications are filed with the state chair, and others are filed with the local county chair. To figure out which, look at this page:
Where to file

(Ignore the statements about "parties without ballot access." The Libertarian Party of Texas has ballot access.)

Before mailing, please fax all applications to the state party at this number: 512-233-0613.
