Howdy!

I'm the new president of Aggie Libertarians.  We are just getting started, and I was curious what other libertarian groups on campus had done.  What worked well?  What didn't?

re: Campus Leaders

Hey Jeff,

I'm glad you're leading this group.  Even though I'm a Longhorn fan and TCU Alumni!   Of course, you know that your slogan "Gig 'em" was directed to TCU, since you 'gig frogs' with a pointy stick... anyhow, that's what they called it about 60 or 70 years ago.

But I digress,  I've been working hard to get a TCU and other local college groups going.  Can you tell me how many members you have and what it took to get your organization off the ground (faculty sponsorship, promotional info, etc.)?

I've been invited to speak (about once a semester) at TCU at some Poli Sci 'lab classes' and that's been a pretty good draw, but it is required after all!

One of my meetup members that is a TCU student said that occasionally they have a political debate on a controversial topic (drug war - pro and con; drinking age limits; Iraq war, etc.).  And that draws a big crowd...

That may be a good start....

Jeff

We in Collin County are tackling the same issues right now.  Just today I reached out to a College Advisor that wants to reactivate the Chapter there.  What I suggested, and you may want to try that too, is volunteer to work on a Libertarian campaign.  Sometimes if people can get motivated by a person, then they may be more motivated ideologically too.

Feel free to write me (Jim.prindle@verizon.net), or, contact Steve Nichols (Steve@stevenichols.com).  We are working on our College Outreach Programs now. We are willing to travel to campuses around the State for this very reason.

Hope your journey is successful.

Best Regards,

Jim Prindle
