Harris County LP Organization

The Libertarian Party in Texas is a convention party.  To select candidates for the November General Election held in even numbered years, we meet in Precinct, County, District, State and National Conventions.  Primary parties such as the Democrats & Republicans instead hold taxpayer subsidized primary elections.

Prospective LP candidates should contact the HCLP Chair or Secretary to apply for nomination in December of the year prior to the election. There are no fees or petitions required to apply. Nominations are made in county conventions held in March for local partisan offices and at the State Convention in June for statewide office. The Harris County Libertarian Party is governed by an Executive Committee elected every even-numbered year.
