HCLP will hold multiple precinct conventions around Harris County. If you reside within any precinct in the listed Texas State Representative district, you should attend the convention at the listed location. Contact Guy McLendon at 832-372-8131 with questions. Participation in a LP Precinct Convention is an act of "affiliation" per the Texas Election Code, and is comparable to attending a Republican or Democratic Primary. LP candidates whose districts are fully inside Harris County are elected in County Convention (March 13). Candidates whose districts overlap multiple counties are elected in District Conventions (March 20). If you wish to vote for LP candidates to be elected in the Harris County Convention, you should be nominated by a Precinct Convention; Precinct Conventions can nominate you even if you're absent, but you must make prior arrangements. If you wish to vote for a LP candidate whose district overlaps more than one county, you must be nominated by the County Convention to be a voting delegate at the District Convention. Contact Guy McLendon if you wish to be nominated to attend either District or State Conventions, but are unable to attend the County Convention. Candidates can not serve as their own Precinct Chair: so candidates, bring a friend from your precinct who can affiliate and function as Precinct Chair.
