Former Miss Texas Teen USA Hired as New Libertarian Regional Coordinator for Houston; Gulf Coast

AUSTIN, TEXAS - April 12, 2010 -- Christie Pearson, former Miss Texas Teen USA, has been hired by the Libertarian Party of Texas to serve as their new Gulf Coast Coordinator.  Pearson will be responsible for managing the fastest growing political party in Texas from Beaumont to Victoria, and as far west as College Station.

"I'm honored to serve Houston and the surrounding Gulf Coast Region to promote more freedom and less government with the Libertarian Party of Texas," said Pearson.  "I look forward to encouraging the growth of the Libertarian Party, recruiting new members and candidates, and organizing new county affiliates."

"We were very lucky to find such an enthusiastic and passionate Libertarian with great public relations experience," said LPT Executive Director Robert Butler.  "Christie Pearson is a great addition to our team.  We have added 4 employees in the last two months to manage the explosive growth of our party."

Pearson brings a broad background in sales, marketing, and communications to her new position.  She won the Miss Texas Teen USA title in 1998, and placed 6th in the nationally televised Miss Teen USA Pageant.  She founded Luggage for Kids in 1998 in honor of her adopted sister to find donated suitcases for foster children.  Pearson hosts quarterly blood donor drives through the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.  She is married and has one child.

"This is an unprecedented step in the growth and professionalism of our party," said LPT Chair Patrick Dixon.  "Our members have made a substantial investment and we will have to earn that trust by continuing to grow and win more elections."

The Libertarian Party of Texas has five regions: North, Gulf Coast, South, Central, and West.  The Gulf Coast region includes 30 counties from Beaumont to Victoria and as far west as College Station.  The Regional Coordinator is responsible for county affiliate and membership services.
