AUSTIN, TEXAS - April 12, 2010 -- Amie Parsons, former Highland Park school teacher, has been hired by the Libertarian Party of Texas to serve as their new North Texas Regional Director.  Parsons will be responsible for managing the fastest growing political party in Texas from Texarkana to Palo Pinto, and as far south as Lufkin.

"I'm honored to serve Dallas and the North Texas Region to promote more freedom and less government with the Libertarian Party of Texas," said Parsons.  "I look forward to encouraging the growth of the Libertarian Party, recruiting new members and candidates, and organizing new county affiliates. I want to share our message of personal responsibility and freedom from government."

"We were very lucky to find such an enthusiastic and passionate Libertarian with great public relations experience," said LPT Executive Director Robert Butler.  "Amie Parsons is a great addition to our team.  We have added 4 employees in the last two months to manage the explosive growth of our party."

Parsons brings a broad background in education, fundraising, and communications to her new position.  She founded Camp Quest Texas in 2009 and currently volunteers as Director. Parsons is also active in the Lake Highlands Early Childhood PTA.  She is a candidate for the Texas Board of Education, District 12.  She is married and has two children.

"This is an unprecedented step in the growth and professionalism of our party," said LPT Chair Patrick Dixon.  "Our members have made a substantial investment and we will have to earn that trust by continuing to grow and win more elections."

The Libertarian Party of Texas has five regions: North, Gulf Coast, South, Central, and West.  The North Texas region includes 50 counties from Texarkana to Palo Pinto and as far south as Lufkin.  The Regional Director is responsible for county affiliate and membership services.
