Libertarian State Chair elected to city council
LAGO VISTA - May 12, 2008 - Pat Dixon, state chair of the Libertarian Party of Texas (LPT), was elected on May 10 to the open Place 4 seat on the Lago Vista City Council.
Dixon received 58 percent of the vote.
Dixon was first elected to the Lago Vista City Council in 2005, but lost his re-election bid to Susan Euresti in 2007.
Dixon was endorsed by congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Dixon said, "When you're sworn in, you swear to uphold the Constitution. Some people think it's a formality. I take it seriously."
Other LPT activists also appeared on the May 10 ballot. Kevin Anderson, a 2004 Libertarian candidate for Congress, won re-election to Anna City Council, Place 2 (located in Collin County).
Kevin Tunstall, state vice-chair of the LPT, received 25 percent in his race for Missouri City Council, Position 2.
Steve Kirby, Libertarian county chair of Taylor County, received 7 percent in his race for Abilene City Council, Place 4.
